Could this be accounting utopia? – Allworths Chartered Accountants
“We believe the right way to outsource is to retain control, only by using VAULT do we have complete control of our data and faith that our platform is safe and secure.”
Mark Copsey, Partner
If workplace utopia exists, these guys may soon find it.
Unless you’re a professional beer taster or superhero, there are surely some boredom inducing functions of your job. While beer and lycra suits are not the focus of Allworths Chartered Accountants (well not on work time at least), they are mastering the recipe for workplace happiness. It features two key ingredients – The Cloud (VAULT) and a second team based in Manilla.
As accounting degrees in the Philippines are closely aligned to Australian programs, recruiting quality staff offshore was possible. Offshore staff can complete processing work at a lower cost, allowing Australian staff to concentrate on more rewarding advisory level work. The considerable cost savings afforded through this model are well documented, however Allworths were keen to ensure lower costs didn’t mean lower quality.
While offshore accounting companies abound in the marketplace, Allworth’s took the less travelled route and established their own dedicated office in Manilla, employing staff through a competitive interview process. Although infinitely more challenging, this was critical to ensuring Allworth’s discerning standards were not compromised in any way.
By having staff in Manilla work on exactly the same Cloud Computing system (VAULT) as their Australian staff, Allworths could ensure that the quality processes built into their existing system would be replicated offshore. In terms of security, using an Australian made and owned Cloud solution meant that their data never left Australia…even though their staff did.
What about Australian jobs?
“Yeah, yeah…shipping Australian jobs offshore to cut costs…it’s been done” I hear you say. Roll your eyes not, for what actually occurred is the reverse.
Allworths continue to grow Australian staff numbers. They have achieved this by freeing staff from processing work and allowing them to respond to market demand for higher chain advisory services.
They now employ more staff, who are more satisfied at work and have more job security because their workplace has maintained its competitive edge.
Superpowers they may not have, but they DO know how to flex their Cloud muscle!
